La Acuarela del mes / Watercolor of the Month

The Papantla´s Flying men

Each year around Christmas time the Papantla´s flying men come to my hometown.

This time when they finished they ritual I approached to one of them and asked him
what does he feel when he´s flying.
He told me that he has so much training and so many years of flying that he no
longer feels a thing... that it´s almost like if he became part of the air.

Then I asked him how is their training,
and he explained that in order to jump from a 25 meter long post (82 feet), they start jumping
from a much shorter one and they increase the jumping distance little by little
(Same thing, there is one performer who dances at the top of the post, and he also
starts training dancing at a closer distance from the ground...
until he is up in the air).

Finally, I asked him if they traveled a lot.
He answered to me:
- Yes Miss, We fly wherever we are invited.
